To the Editor:
The recent events in New Zealand prove again that racism and hate exist even in the far corners of this planet.
Confiscating guns from the nativists is key to making a more diverse world and keeping New Zealand safe.
The immigrants, these new citizens to a land so gentle and peaceful that The Hobbit movies were made there, remain in danger.
Certainly the government of New Zealand should re-issue those confiscated guns to these immigrants so that they can defend themselves in the future.
It is the compassionate thing to do.
